Dave Weidner ACS-ALB Hello Fellow Toastmasters: We will be able to accomplish a lot for ourselves and those around us with teamwork. With teamwork the load is easier and the benefit is greater for all of us. Our personal goals can be accomplished better with teamwork. I have been elected your Lieutenant Governor of Marketing for the District 2008-09. It is one of my goals for the District to increase our teamwork so all of us and the District can benefit. The teamwork that we have implemented in Division C has helped the Division to grow. Now our goal is to take what we have learned and transfer it to the District level. To do this successfully we will need some new ideas and tools. What new ideas and tools do you have to offer for this District to increase membership? There is a funny thing about Toastmasters!! You can NOT out give Toastmasters!! It is physically impossible to do this! I have tried. And I have failed, that’s right failed, failed miserably. The more that I gave Toastmasters the more it gave back to me. It is not a zero sum game. It is a force multiplying game. What I am asking you to do is to fail just as I have failed! If we all try to out give Toastmasters we all benefit. Through our teamwork we can accomplish our individual speaking, leadership and education goals, but if we give to others to help them, they will in turn help us achieve our personal, club, area, division and district goals. If we give just a little bit more, we benefit a lot more. Please consider what you would like to accomplish for your Toastmaster goals for this year. Think about looking outside your club. You could start a new club maybe? Use the High Performance Leadership program for a project at work. This would show others about Toastmasters. Make yourself some Toastmasters business cards to tell others about Toastmasters. In closing, spend a few minutes and decide your personal 2008-2009 Toastmasters goals. Inform your Club, Area and Division Governors. And oh yes write me an email let me know what your plans are. Remember, get involved, try to give more that you get from Toastmasters.
