Greetings from the D9 LGET for 2008-09
Hello District 9 Toastmasters!
I look forward to serving you as Lieutenant Governor of Education
and Training for 2008-09. Last year our District was once again
a Distinguished District, thanks in part to everyone working hard
getting new club members and the chartering of new clubs. It is
also due to those who obtained their educational awards and having
trained leaders.
Every year, each club should be reviewing their Club Success Plan
with the vision of being a Distinguished Club. Maybe your club was
a Distinguished Club last year. Why not try to become Select Distinguished,
or Presidents Distinguished. If you are not sure, why not have your
club do an educational presentation from the Successful Club Series.
Maybe you want to assess your club with the Moments of Truth? Maybe
you want to improve your evaluations with the Evaluate to Motivate?
Maybe you want to increase club membership with Finding New Members
and Closing the Sale. A Distinguished Club is a successful club.
Will you be working on achieving the Competent Communicator Award?
Or, will you be working towards your Advanced Communicator award,
be it Bronze, Silver, or Gold? Maybe you are working towards your
leadership awards, whether it is a Competent Leader, Advanced Leader
Bronze, or Advanced Leader Silver. Maybe it’s becoming a Distinguished
Toastmaster. Let your club know what your goals are, and your club
could become a Distinguished Club.
Are you a club officer? Have you attended Club Officers Training?
This is the place where you can learn what are your roles and responsibilities.
So take a moment to think of your role in achieving educational
goals and being a Distinguished Club. Please feel free to contact
me and let me know your thoughts.
And finally, don’t forget to attend our District Conferences
where you can attend great educational sessions, hear great speech
contests, and network with great Toastmasters. Our Fall Conference
will be hosted by Division B at the Wildhorse Resort and Casino
in Pendleton, Oregon on October 24th and 25th. The Spring Conference
will be hosted by Division D.
Have a great year and think “A Successful Club is a Distinguished
Club”.
