Wonderful Toastmasters in District 9,

We are going to have a great year! We have a fantastic District team here to support our members, our clubs, potential new members for our clubs and potential new clubs.

The team has already worked hard to get ready. The DG, LGET, LGM, PRO and Treasurer completed training at the Regional Conference. The 2007-2008 Division and Area Governors have worked with the LGET and incoming officers to provide training to both the incoming Area and Division Governors and to start club officer training. Seventeen out of nineteen Area and Division Governors were trained in May and June and three out of four Divisions held their first club officer training in June. This is a great start for the new year.

My theme for this year is “Moving Forward Through Teamwork”. Together, we support one another in achieving personal growth. Most of us start with improving our speaking skills through working the toastmaster’s educational program, completing the competent communicator manual and advanced communication manuals. Later, we may start our leadership track. Those on the leadership track need the member’s support also. We start with leadership positions within the club. We need the members support to get the tasks done. We learn to work with our team to support the club’s operation.

The next step in leadership is being an Area Governor. In that position we support several clubs to assist the club in achieving their best and provide communications to the club on District sponsored educational opportunities. These area governors need your help also. Please support them in their quest to grow in their leadership skills and support them as they work to meet the needs of the membership.

Finally, all District officers, support one another to accomplish the work of the District. Through teamwork we can strengthen the organization to ensure we provide excellent service to our membership and clubs.

I am looking forward to serving our membership, our team, as your District Governor for 2008-2009.
